Reasons You Can Still Learn Piano As An Adult

Too Late To Learn To Play The Piano? We Don’t Think So.

When people talk about beginning piano, they often think of children at a piano bench, unable to reach the pedals, learning to read music and how to use their fingers on the keys. Many people think that if they didn’t learn on a Yamaha piano as a child, they’ve missed their chance to be able to play for the rest of their lives. Or, if they do learn to play, it’ll be struggling through piano books to learn on their own instead of through a class. But that’s not true. Just because you didn’t take piano as a child doesn’t mean you’ve missed your chance to learn. In fact, there are benefits to learning piano as an adult!

Benefits of learning piano as an adult

While many people talk about the benefits of learning piano as a child, there are benefits to learning as an adult, as well. Most notably, you probably appreciate the lessons more as an adult than you would as a child. When you’re a child, you take the lessons and practice at home because you have to. But, as an adult, you have a better understanding of what your Bay Area piano lessons are for and why practice is important. In addition, as an adult, you may have a better ear for the music since you have more experience listening to music. As a child, on the other hand, you’d be learning everything for the first time all at once. These kinds of benefits mean you may have a better experience learning piano as an adult than you would have as a child.

Tips for learning piano as an adult

  • Build on what you already know about music to help you.
  • Use music you love as practice pieces to build your skills.
  • Take your time as you learn.
  • Find ways to learn and practice that work for you.
