Our authorized Weber Piano dealers are passionate about helping the Bay Area live more musically. That’s why we’re so excited about the Global Piano Keys project, the brainchild of British artist Luke Jerram.
This international art exhibit has already installed over 700 pianos in nearly three dozen cities across the globe. “Play Me, I’m Yours” pianos have been distributed in every imaginable public arena, including markets, train stations, bus shelters, parks, ferries, and bridges.
What you see is what you get. The pianos are there for the public to play. Often, local artists and community members decorate and personalize the instruments. The pianos encourage a more vital community spirit. Anyone who wants to can take a seat at the keyboard, play a few melodies, and even jam with other musicians passing by (e.g. guitarists, flutists, drummers, saxophonists, you name it).
The team here at Pianos Plus appreciates this “piano activist spirit.” It speaks to what’s driven us for over four decades – the desire to introduce more musicality to the Bay Area community. Lightweight digital pianos aside, most people think of pianos as rigid, classical, highly structured instruments. But they’re really incredibly diverse. They are not solely the province of gilded rehearsal halls and cloistered orchestras. It’s high time the piano shed its stodgy, fusty image.
All that said, it does take time, discipline, and skill to play sophisticated compositions on the piano. You can play for a lifetime without ever exhausting the full reservoir of musical possibilities. No matter what your level of talent or diligence – whether you’re a professional composer who wants a powerful “workhorse” Weber Piano; or you’re a self-described dilettante who wants a gorgeous baby grand primarily for decoration – the Pianos Plus team can help.
