The Gift of Music

“When pianos are on the wish list for the Castro Valley Arts Foundation (CVAF), Bob is our resident angel,” exclaimed FOundation President Mary Ann De-Grazia.

Pianos Plus owner, Bob Engel, just announced that he is gifting another piano to the Center for the Arts, a Yamaha C2X grand piano for the Exhibition Room. having that beautiful piano will allow the Exhibition Room to be used for recitals, rehearsals and rentals.

When the Center for the Arts (CFA) opened in 2005, Bob and the Alameda County Music Teachers Association gifted the 7-foot 6-inch Yamaha concert grand C7 used on stage for concerts. Later, Bob gave a Yamaha Studio upright P 22 for the Green Room/Drama class at the CFA, which is used for rehearsals.

The Creekside Middle School choir department needed to replace its tired piano and again, Bob came to the rescue with a Yamaha Studio upright.

Bob has been in business since 1974, when he opened his store at Bayfair. He moved to his present location on A street in 1986. Pianos Plus offers the complete line of Yamaha acoustic and digital pianos as well as disklaviers and Enspire, new and used.

Bob has always supported the music programs in Castro Valley public schools. He is quick to say, “What would his world be without music?” He has made sure that Castro Valley students will make music on beautiful instruments!

Terry Leibowitz is a founding member of the Castro Valley Arts Foundation.
